Dr Mandana Ghanavati

Dr Mandana Ghanavati is a researcher and data Scientist in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW Sydney. Her work focuses on operational AI systems for coastal and climate-related applications. She led the development of RipEye webapp and game, an AI powered tool for rip current detection and public education. She also led the development of an AI based bluebottle forecasting system for the east coast of Australia.
She received her PhD from the University of Melbourne, where her research investigated the impacts of climate change on global coastal erosion. She has over a decade of experience developing data driven solutions across academia and industry. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
