Dr Ali Işın

Visiting Fellow, School of Population Health, UNSW Sydney

Dr. Ali Işın is a Visiting Fellow at the School of Population, Medicine & Health, UNSW. He completed both his MSc and PhD at the Institute of Health Sciences, Akdeniz University. After working as a research assistant for many years, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor at Akdeniz University for the past two years.

Dr. Işın’s research interests focus on drowning prevention, sports injuries, and lower extremity alignment. In recent years, he has also been teaching swimming and lifesaving courses at the university level. He holds a Level 1 Swimming Coaching Certificate, a Bronze Medallion in lifesaving, and a certified First Aid qualification. He is particularly committed to developing and implementing community-based strategies to reduce drowning risk, especially among children and adolescents.

He is also keen on research in beach safety, focusing on common risk factors and behaviours that contribute to incidents in coastal areas. His work aims to provide practical insights to help improve safety measures and inform public awareness initiatives.
